Igraine

   Wife of Gorlois and later Uther Pendragon. She was the mother of Morgawse, Elaine, Morgan le Fay, and by Uther, mother of Arthur. Malory describes her as a fair lady and passing wise. But she must have held qualities that placed her above the average for it is not her wealth that Uther craved but herself. Malory makes her innocent of the affair of Uther's first visit in disguise. He does not state whether she loved Uther but she does seem faithful and a queen for him and evidenses great sorrow at Uther's passing. It is difficult to understand her qualities in the few lines that Malory bestows on her, but I would compare her to Eleanor of Aquitaine.
