Heinrich von dem Türlin's Diu Kröne
(The Crown)
In another grail romance, Heinrich von
dem Türlin's Diu Kröne 'The Crown', a "gotinne" (goddess, fairy) is the
bearer of the grail. In this romance, the grail mystery is the story of a
curse. The salvation, which is due to Gawein's question: 'what is the
meaning of all this' (a question that is never answered), is that the dead
man and his society of male zombies can die and the female society of the
grail bearing goddess and her maidens can take over rule. (By the way, the
goddess is the sister of King Arthur's stepfather, a mighty magician). |
