Lady Charlotte Guest was born Lady Charlotte Elizabeth Bertie. Her father was the ninth Earl of Lindsey. She married John Guest, who was later knighted.
   Lady Guest kept her deceased husband's steel works going in South Wales after his death, which is where she became interested in Welsh and early Welsh literature. As well as running the steel works, she managed to bring up ten children.
