In the Didot Perceval, it appears that Carduel, Avalon and the Esplumoir are in the same region. Near Kerduel and the Ile Aval (Apple Island) in Brittany, there is Pleumeur-Bodou. Pleumeur-Bodou in just inland from Ile Aval, immediately north of Kerduel, and is situated close to Penvern with its great menhir. In Breton traditions, Merlin's refuge or the "Wood of the Valley" is just west of Pleumeur-Bodou.
