Colombe
Lady and paramour of Lanceor, the knight slain by Balin on the road between Camelot and Cornwall. Lanceor
had set out from Arthur's court to avenge the wrong done by Balin in the death of Lady Lile. Balin kills Lanceor in a joust.
Distraught by her love's death, Colombe kills herself with Lanceor's sword. King Mark buries the two lovers in a fair
and rich tomb on the spot of their deaths.
Merlin tells Balin that because he failed to save Colombe from killing herself, that he would strike the dolorous
stroke.
