   A knight smote down by Lot in the battle of the eleven kings.

Clariance of Northumberland

   One of the eleven kings that fought against Arthur in the early years of his reign. Here we have a typical Malory quandary. In all of the early chapters, Malory uses the Forest Savage as a descriptor of Northumberland, in several cases stating that an individual with the use of savage in the name is from Northumberland. In this case, we have two Clariance in the battle with the eleven kings who seem to share the same name but appear to be on opposite sides.
