Bercilak (Bertilak)

   Bercilak is the knight who is put under an enchantment by Morgan Le Fey so that he might deliver her challenge to Arthur's court  as the Green Knight in "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight." He is probably the same knight with an almost identical name in the False Guenivere story in the French Prose "Lancelot".

    The villain of the beheading game appears in "Fled Bricrend", "Le Livre de Caradoc", "Perlesvaus", Paien de Maisieres's "La Mule sans frein", Heinrich von dem Turlin's "Diu Crone", and "Hunbaut."
