Saxon King of Sussex, who with his sons Cymen, Wlencing and Cissa, defeated the Britons at Cymenes ora (~ 477CE). He fought against them again near Mearc Raedesburna circa 485CE and eventually captured Anderida (modern Pevensey) about the year 491. According to Bede, he held the title Bretwalda, indicating a primacy among the Saxon kings.  It has been proposed that he led the Saxons at Badon.
